WEEKEND WINDUP August 11, 2017
We are excited to announce the arrival of Jameson Gregory to the world. Jameson was born this past Wednesday and is 7lb 14 oz and 21 inches long. The proud parents are Krista Gregory, our Falls Church Office Manager, and John Gregory. Mom and baby are doing wonderful. We are very excited for Krista and John as they begin their journey as parents. Krista plans to return to work early winter.
Krista was able to work up until the day she gave birth which is amazing. She attributes this to the fact that she listened to her body and received therapy as needed for back pain, inflammation/swelling and difficulty sleeping. United Wellness & Sports Rehab offers a wide range of services for mothers and babies. Krista was able to get chiropractic care and physical therapy throughout her pregnancy. Dr Jennifer Baird is trained extensively in caring for women throughout their pregnancies. Dr Baird is a new mother herself, which always helps when a patient is explaining their pains, discomforts, etc. We also offer prenatal massage and acupuncture.
Additionally, our littlest patients get amazing results from chiropractic, acupuncture and infant massage. Our doctors and clinicians are available to talk with you regarding how these treatments can help your little one with fussiness, colic, and many more common issues facing parents with young children.
Again, congrats to one of our team members, Krista Gregory, on the birth of her precious baby boy!

The United Wellness & Sports Rehab TRAVELING DUDE took its maiden voyage 15 hours away to Greece. My personal adventure began in June as I took my two teenage children on a 2 week vacation in Greece. What an amazing people and country. We had private traditional Greek dance lessons, rode donkeys down and up the Santorini caldera, stayed in an authentic farming village and watched as the native people prepared sun dried tomatoes on their roofs, hauled goods to their homes with their donkeys and listened to the magical harmonies of Greek music long into the night. A trip of a lifetime to share with my children before they begin their own journey into adulthood.
The idea for the TRAVELING DUDE was born after I realized that this team does some serious traveling. In the past 2 years our staff and doctors have traveled to France, Spain, Vietnam, Africa, and Greece. What a great way to share our personal and work adventures than to share a picture with our friends.
We look forward to sharing its location with our friends as TRAVELING DUDE explores the world with our staff, doctors and friends of United Wellness.
Where will TRAVELING DUDE go next… keep watching!
United Wellness & Sports Rehab is excited to announce the addition of a massage therapist to our offices.
‘G’ (short for Gyöngyvér) Montes joined us in June 2017.
One of her most recent patients shared, “Had my first appointment with ‘G’! Wow, I think I’ve been going to the wrong massage therapist all these years! I will definitely be returning, as I’m sure you already know… she is quite an asset to your already wonderful practice! Many thanks for finding and for also hiring ‘G’!”
G grew up in Budapest, Hungary where she was a semiprofessional volleyball player and earned her Registered Nurse degree.
After arriving to the US, she graduated on top of her class at AKS Massage Therapy School in Herndon, VA and currently holds the highest level of certification (NCBTMB) in massage therapy and bodywork.
G currently works with pro athletes and a wide range of clientele. No matter what the issue; surgery, a sprain, trigger points or tightness, she’ll help you return to a normal, ideal condition where you can thrive better and stronger.
She accomplished numerous high intensity trainings, such as Erik Dalton’s Myoskeletal Alignment, learned Myofascial Release by Howard Rontal and many other modalities, such as deep tissue therapy, sports massage, trigger point therapy, prenatal massage, post operative massage, scar tissue therapy, Swedish massage and many more.
G volunteered at Walter Reed Medical center providing massage therapy to military people with severe PTSD.
Her favorite quote is from the revolutionary Ida Rolf (who was a biochemist and the creator of Structural Integration)
“When the body gets working appropriately, the force of gravity can flow, then spontaneously, the body heals itself.”
G lives in Franklin Farm, loves spending time with her children, friends and 3 dogs, hiking, traveling, cooking, trying new cuisine, going to concerts, listening to music and spending as much time outdoors as she possibly can.

A lesson in BIO-ORTHOMECHANICS from Dr H with the athletic trainers from Randolph-Macon College
When Heather Bauby, head athletic trainer for Randolph-Macon College, in Ashland, VA, attended the INOVA Capital City Sports Medicine Summit last month and heard our own, Dr Hirad NajafBagy (Dr H) discuss Bio-Orthomechanics she knew she needed to learn more about this system of protocols developed by Dr H to treat sports injury. Less than four weeks after the Summit the entire team of athletic trainers from Randolph-Macon were taking a road trip to Northern Virginia to visit United Wellness & Sports Rehab and spend an entire afternoon learning from the best. Dr H worked on each of them, showing them the specifics of using Bio-Orthomechanics in treating their athletes. They also spent time working on each other using the techniques taught by Dr H. They left feeling a bit sore, but with new “tools in their toolbox” to use on their athletes this summer and leading into this years sports seasons. Heather, Annie, Chris and Matt are awesome trainers who are driven to perfect their ability to help their collegiate athletes to be THE BEST THEY CAN BE! We look forward to watching the Randolph Macon Yellow Jackets this season! Check out their website at www.rmcathletics.com

One of our littlest patients arrived in our office on May 4.
Prior to her arrival in our office her mother wrote to me… “I am reaching out to you because I have a close friend who raves about chiropractic care and the wonders it has done for her and her young children, and I’m hoping you will be able to help my daughter as well.
My daughter Adelyn is 6 months old and was recently diagnosed with a brain disorder affecting the white matter after being admitted to the hospital for seizures. As a result of her brain abnormality, she has low muscle tone, spasticity, and delayed fine and gross motor skills. We have already seen great improvements in her after beginning physical and occupational therapy, and I believe chiropractic care would make the perfect complete circle of her care and help her tremendously.”
Little did we know 4 weeks ago the changes that would take place not only with Adelyn, but with us. We have fallen in love. In just four short weeks Adelyn has transformed into a chatty, smiling, laughing little girl. After her initial assessment with Dr. Jennifer Baird, Doctor of Chiropractic and Dr. Malgorzata Booth, Doctor of Oriental Medicine and licensed acupuncturist, it was determined that the most important goal was improving Adelyn’s nutrition. Dr Baird took a backseat to our acupuncturist who would use her tiny needles to stimulate Adelyn’s digestive system. For those of you who have not had the pleasure to meet Dr. Booth, she is a native of Poland and has the most beautiful accent… one that Adelyn adores. Adelyn lights up a room when Dr. Booth talks with her. It is amazing! So of course Adelyn looks forward to having needles in her for several minutes at a time. And bingo… reflux is resolved and Adelyn is now eating solid foods.
The past four weeks have been very positive for our #1 patient. Through acupuncture we have improved her digestive system and she is sleeping better. Her mom, Susan, has also noticed that she is a much “happier child” now. I would be remiss if I did not mention the great strides her physical therapist and occupational therapist are making… Adelyn is getting stronger every day and is almost rolling over.
In my last blog I wrote “that is our business, it is not just adjusting spines and eliminating pain… it is helping people be the best athlete, the best mother/father, the best teacher, the best musician, the best You, you can be!” That is our ultimate goal with Adelyn and her mother, Susan. We want Adelyn to be the best little girl she can possibly be despite the challenges God has chosen for her and the same for her heroic and strong mom. If we can provide just one hour each week of total calmness, encouragement and hope for this family then we have met our goal. We don’t know what the future holds for little Miss Adelyn, but we do know that we will be there beside her, her parents and the rest of Adelyn’s Tribe to help her be the best she can be!
