Acupuncture

Experience this holistic, ancient form of Chinese medicine designed to balance your energy (chi) and help stimulate your body’s natural healing abilities.

Acupuncture originated in China more than 2,000 years ago, making it one of the oldest and most commonly used medical procedures in the world.

Acupuncture

It is a recognized alternative modality effective at addressing musculoskeletal pain, arthritis, migraines, tension headaches, asthma, tendonitis and fatigue, and as an aid in preventing illness and promoting longevity.

Your first appointment will last 1-1.5 hours. It will include a general health history, a Chinese physical exam, and a discussion about your understanding of how your body works. During this initial visit, needle treatment may or may not be performed. Subsequent visits will last from 30-45 minutes.

Chinese Herbal Medicine

Chinese Herbal Medicine is the world’s oldest continuously practiced form of herbal medicine. It utilizes potent healing formulas to treat arthritis, fatigue, high cholesterol, menopause, PMS, migraines, asthma, stress and many more health conditions. After a traditional evaluation that includes pulse and tongue diagnosis, a specialist in Chinese medicine will give you herbal, dietary and lifestyle recommendations.

Acupuncture Facial Rejuvenation

A holistic alternative approach to plastic surgery, botox injections, or laser therapy, this Anti-Aging Acupuncture procedure promotes circulation and enhances collagen and elastin production to reduce wrinkles, sagginess and droopy eyelids.

Acupuncture and Infertility

Combined with herbal medicine, acupuncture has been used for centuries to treat some causes of infertility. Endometriosis, Polycystic Ovarian Syndrome and low ovarian reserve are a few conditions that acupuncture can address.

Benefits of acupuncture and herbs include improved ovarian and follicular function. Additionally, it is shown that acupuncture can increase blood flow to the endometrium, helping to facilitate a thick, rich lining. Stress management is also addressed to help relax the body in preparation of conceiving.

Less commonly know, but equally important, acupuncture can help male infertility. A trial published in Fertility and Sterility showed that acupuncture can help improve sperm production and quality.

Acupuncture can be used in conjunction with other fertility treatments, such as IUI and IVF cycles. Treatments should begin at least 3 months before a cycle for optimum effect, all though it has been shown to be effective in as little as 4 weeks.

The initial treatment will include a Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) History in order to determine your TCM diagnosis. This diagnosis will help improve your body’s ability to conceive. Once conception has occurred it is best to continue acupuncture treatments through the first trimester. These treatments will focus on keeping the body relaxed while treating any early pregnancy symptoms. These treatments are also very helpful if there is a past history of miscarriage

Battlefield Acupuncture

The term battlefield acupuncture was first used in 2001 by Col. Richard Niemtzow MD, PhD, who serves as a consultant for complementary and alternative medicine to the Surgeon General of the Air Force.

It was recently announced that the U.S. Air Force will begin training physicians being deployed to Iraq and Afghanistan in the use of Battlefield Acupuncture. The treatment uses small needles in the skin of the ear to block pain in as few as five minutes and can last for several days or longer. The procedure was initially introduced in 2008 at Landstuhl Regional Medical Center (LRMC), where it was applied to wounded service members and local patients for pain relief, with significant results.

Zero Balancing

Zero Balancing (ZB) is a hands-on bodywork system designed to align your energy body with your physical structure. Considered at the leading edge of body/mind therapies, ZB moves beyond Western scientific approaches to body structure by incorporating Eastern concepts of energy and healing.

Everything in a ZB session is designed to promote maximum relaxation and a sense of well-being. The process is “distinguished by a form of touch known as interface. Gentle and noninvasive, it’s pleasant for both the ZB practitioner to give and the client to receive. Some people describe experiencing “expanded awareness,” others “tension melting away, ” and , still others say it’s like “feeling balanced to zero”.

A Zero Balancing session is ideal for helping to prevent and relieve the problems encountered in this harried world we live in. ZB creates a point of stillness where the mind quiets, the energy fields organize and internal reorientation occurs. The process is designed to work in tandem with primary healthcare, focusing on deep quieting and integration of the body/mind/spirit to promote optimum functioning. ZB is a major adjunct to staying well as you navigate through the difficult periods of life.
