United Wellness offering 2 new YOGA classes

United Wellness Center in partnership with “Dance With Me” Studios is offering YOGA on Saturday and Monday mornings starting in May at the United Wellness Center Studio in Herndon. Saturday classes begin at 10:00 a.m. and Mondays classes begin at 11:00 a.m. Both classes are one hour in duration. Eight classes may be purchased for $120 or a drop in fee of $20 per class. Congrats to Boston Marathon Athletes

Congrats to all our patients and friends who completed the HOT Boston Marathon yesterday! The starting line at 10am was a blistering 79.2 degrees. Even with the above average temps, Wesley Korir, of Kenya, finished in 2 hrs,12 minutes and 40 seconds. If you competed, please tell us how you did. Again, congrats to all athletes!

UWC acupuncturists learn from Chinese Medicine Master

The United Wellness Center’s two talented acupuncturists spent a weekend with Chinese Medicine Master Jeffrey Yuen in March 2012. Virginia Mitchell and Emily Hatt, both licensed acupuncturists, learned up to date clinical treatments for a wide range of autoimmune diseases with acupuncture. The training focused on integrating theories of the endocrine system with Chinese medicine. It has been found that using acupuncture and herbal applications to treat endocrine issues relating to immunity, autoimmunity, neurology, and psychology is a meaningful tool in treating autoimmune distress.

Virginia Mitchell, with 18 years of experience as a licensed acupuncturist, specializes in treatment of autoimmune disorders. Virginia was recognized by NOVA magazine in 2008 as one of the area’s Best Acupuncturists. Call United Wellness Today to schedule an appointment with Virginia or Emily.

GOOD LUCK to our patients, staff and friends who are participating in the DC Rock & Roll full and 1/2 Marathon on Saturday and the Run for Haiti 5K on Sunday! The Sunday race is inspired by our United Wellness Center friend, Moise Joseph, who is also a valuable member of the Potomac River Running team. Moise was a 12 time All-American while at the University of Florida. He competed for Haiti in the 2004 Olympics and has been a member of four World Championship teams. Good Luck to all the athletes!

Dr. H travels to Indianapolis for NFL Combine

Dr. H traveled to Indianapolis last weekend for the 2012 NFL Scouting Combine. Over three hundred of the very best college football players participated in the NFL Scouting Combine (National Invitational Camp) in Indianapolis, Indiana. This intense, four-day job interview is an exciting time for the athletes and a vital step in achieving their dreams of playing in the NFL.

Dr H. met with the team of Redskin doctors as well as fellow members of the Professional Football Chiropractic Society to exchange ideas. The PFC is an organization of chiropractors who provide the highest quality Chiropractic health care to the elite athletes of Professional Football. Their mission is to communicate and provide education. To initiate and continue a better understanding of Chiropractic for athletes, coaches, administrative and healthcare staff of their respective teams.
